Camping Trek: The classic style of trek in Nepal is to camp in tent and employs porters to carry the gear and Sherpa to setup camp, cook and other staff. On a camping trek you sleep in a tent. It follows a tradition and routine that mountaineers have developed and refined for more then 50 years.


When to trek
Treks can last from one day to week, 2 week, 3 week, one month or more and the first consideration will be to choose that fits in to your available time. You also need to strike a balance between the periods of best weather for the area you wish to trek. The best Nepal trekking month and time are October, November, December, March, April and May because of best weather. October and November are main tourist season. TIMS (Trekking Information Management System)
With the distinction of Nepal as a trekking destination and its growing charm, a provision of the Trekker’s Information Management System ( TIMS) has been implemented to ensure safety and security of the trekkers and control illegal trekking operation. As a trekker entering a protected area in Nepal, you will be asked to provide some Nepal Trekking information about the date of your trip, the itinerary and a contact number. These data will be inserted in the visitor’s database, where they can be accessed for park management purposes or in case of accidents and /or natural calamities, in order to inform the concerned institutions about the trekkers inside the park at any time. TIMS cards should be collected by both free individual trekkers and trekkers taking the service from government authorize trekking agencies. Lack of the proper record system, we had a very difficulties carrying out rescue operations during the time of accident or natural calamities but now days, based on the data collected through TIMS cards, it is possible to know the position of trekkers in case a rescue operation is needed. Nepal tourism board and TAN introduced separate TIMS card for FITs and organize groups. FIT needs to have green TIMS cards and by paying Us $20 per person, while those traveling through authorize trekking company need to have blue TIMS cards by paying US $ 10 per person but TIMS is not necessary for Expedition member having climbing permits issued by ministry of tourism and civil aviation and Nepal mountaineering association


Where and how to get TIMS cards
Free individual trekkers can obtain tims cards at the office of Nepal tourism board in kathmandu and Pokhara, TAAN secretariat in kathmandu and pokhara upon filling the TIMS Application firm but organize trekkers TIMS will issued by Trekking companies by collecting trekker’s information data and enter it in the central database and provide TIMS to trekkers. TIMS counter at TAAN follow regular working hours (10 AM to 5 PM) and 365 days a year but Nepal tourism board open as government working hours and days. To Issue the TIMS you Need Passport and two passport size Photographs.
